Cleveden Secondary Class Visit

Today we re-visited Cleveden Secondary School, in Hyndland. We took students participating in the John Muir Award down to their local pond. We used pond nets to sample the local invertebrate community and brought them back to the classroom for analysis. We then compared our urban samples with wild samples taken from Loch Lomond. The difference in diversity was quite astonishing. Students successfully identified different species of invertebrates from both samples using taxonomic keys and made conclusions about the differences in biodiversity found in each site.
